The discussion began with an introduction to the four key components of the promotion mix: Advertising, Sales Promotion, Personal Selling, and Public Relations (PR). Participants learned how these elements, when used strategically, can enhance a business’s ability to communicate with its audience and build meaningful relationships. Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) was highlighted as a vital concept in modern marketing. In her session Madhavi introduced The Mobile App and Freemium Marketing During the session, She outlined that the freemium model involves providing a product or service for free initially, with the option to upgrade to a paid version later. This approach aims to build trust by offering value upfront, encouraging free users to eventually transition to paid subscriptions.

We discussed the importance of engaging users with personalized strategies and maintaining loyalty by leveraging unique app features.  The session also covered app categories, which include:

Paid Apps: Providing premium features through subscriptions or one-time payments.
Examples like in-app purchases and paid downloadable versions were highlighted to illustrate this segmentation.

The selection process included Raven’s Matrices to evaluate abstract reasoning, along with a General Aptitude test covering numerical, logical, and verbal reasoning. These assessments provided valuable insights into candidates' cognitive abilities, language proficiency, and critical thinking—vital skills for success in digital marketing roles.

During the panel interview, candidates were assessed on their reliability, communication, body language, technical knowledge, and overall learning attitude. This helped determine their professionalism, integrity, and suitability for the internship, focusing on both technical and interpersonal skills.

Here's a glimpse into our selection process. We were thrilled by the overwhelming response, with over 250 students applying for the program. Of those, around 100 attended the tests, and after a rigorous evaluation, 15 exceptional candidates were selected for the Internship batch.

The idea for this workshop emerged after our successful event on Mindfulness and Workplace Inclusive Language last month. We planned a series of in-person workshops to enhance our training offerings and connect with the student community. To ensure effective planning, we researched popular training topics, June academic schedules, and appropriate session duration.

Initially, we intended to charge a minimal fee for the workshop. However, after reaching out to prospective participants, we realized many were not familiar with this format of workshop and its benefits. Consequently, we adjusted our approach by reducing the training content and offering the workshop for free for a few sessions. This will allow participants to experience our training and become familiar with our brand, with the goal of offering paid workshops in the future.

Inaugural of the workshop

We had 14 participants in this workshop, which focused on learning the basics of Data Analytics using Zoho. Additionally, we provided career-oriented training, helping engineers craft ATS-friendly resumes and more.

Umesh hosted the inaugural session, which began at 10:00 am. The session featured addresses from Director Diana G Hombal, Trainer Shruthi Prabhakar, and Edcite Mysore representative V. Hemanth Kumar, a Software Developer.

Diana G. Hombal underscored the importance of direction for student participants, noting how the workshop title, "Career Compass," aptly captured this necessity. She used the metaphor of a tool-kit, comparing skills such as analytics and communication to essential tools like pliers and wrenches needed to navigate various career paths. Diana also commended the participants for stepping out of their comfort zones and taking the first step towards acquiring new skills by attending the workshop at Tekvocation.

V. Hemanth Kumar provided a brief overview of Edcite, explaining how the company caters to US schools. He shared insights into his work at Edcite and the significant role analytics play in the company's operations.

Shruthi Prabhakar in her address, walked the students through the fundamentals of data analytics, highlighting its necessity and the importance of meaningful data in making informed decisions in areas such as Sales, Marketing, and HR. She also covered the key features of Zoho Analytics.

The learning sessions began with "Understanding the Engineering Job Market" by Dr. Sandhya Seshadri, who helped participants explore key factors influencing engineers' job search. She facilitated the session through various examples, analogies, and quizzes. It covered challenges for new engineers in securing their first job, examined job market complexities, emphasized the importance of ATS-optimized resumes, highlighted the value of acquiring new skills, and underscored the role of soft skills in securing job offers. Overall, participants gained valuable insights and strategies to navigate the job market effectively and improve their job search outcomes.

  

The session commenced with Prabhu guiding participants through importing local CSV files into Zoho Analytics workspaces, crucial for effective workspace setup. Chandrika from the Edcite team followed with an in-depth overview, showcasing her projects to demonstrate practical dashboard applications. In the afternoon, Shruthi led students in creating bar, pie, line, and funnel charts from imported tables, offering hands-on guidance alongside Prabhu. Participants successfully developed dashboards, demonstrating their newfound skills. The workshop also included a briefing on Zoho Campaigns, featuring a Tek-Newsletter email campaign with metrics like open and click rates, enhancing understanding of email campaign effectiveness. Overall, the session was interactive, equipping students with comprehensive skills in Zoho Analytics and practical data analytics applications.

Conclusion

The workshop concluded with a certification ceremony, where participants were awarded certificates of completion. The valedictory session included closing remarks and acknowledgments, bringing the event to a successful close.
