The celebration included a Puja and prayers, sweet distributions, and fun games for everyone. These simple activities served as a moment of gratitude for the tools we use and the people behind our work. For Tekvocation, local festivals like Dasara are a vital ground to celebrate, cherish our culture, and find meaningful ways to engage as a team.

As part of our Health and Wellness initiative, the Tekvocation and Edcite Mysuru teams came together for Morning Miles: Wellness Walk at Kukkarahalli Lake on 25th August.

The walk in nature brought a refreshing start to the day while strengthening bonds within the team. Research shows that wellness programs can reduce employee stress by up to 25%, and around 60% of employees feel more energetic after such activities, making initiatives like these significant for fostering both health and productivity at the workplace.

The day began with a pooja offered to Lord Ganesha, seeking blessings for wisdom and prosperity.

The celebration grew lively as the Tekvocation team, joined by our team members from Edcite Mysuru, engaged in fun-filled activities like Mind Maze and Pictionary. These moments of laughter reflected the spirit of collaboration.

Ganesh Utsav at Tekvocation was not just a celebration, but also a reminder that festivals bring us closer, strengthening both cultural and workplace connections.

What a Weekend Together Did for Our Everyday Work

“Do you even talk this much at the office?” That question, asked mid-bus ride by someone who’s usually the quietest in meetings, set the tone for what was about to unfold.

We set out for Sakleshpur with travel plans. What unfolded was a chance to see one another in a completely new light.

From Colleagues to Co-conspirators

The day began with music, coffee, and the awkward realization that most of us only knew each other through work threads. By the time we reached Mookanana Resort, that awkwardness had melted into shared playlists, inside jokes, and debates about who packed the best snacks.

Lunch was followed by games. Archery, kayaking, foosball—suddenly, the "spreadsheet expert" was aiming arrows like a pro, while the "PowerPoint ninja" was fumbling with a paddle and laughing louder than anyone.

What started as light-hearted fun turned into something meaningful that revealed qualities we hadn’t noticed before.

We saw confidence emerge in unexpected places. Creativity surfaced in those who usually keep a low profile and someone who had never spoken up in a meeting naturally stepped into a leadership role.

Trekking Past Job Titles

The next morning’s coffee estate trek brought a different kind of energy. The trail was steep, the air was thin, yet, no one complained.

Instead:

“You okay back there?”

“Need a hand?”

“Wait, wait—look at that view.”

They were genuine moments of care, thoughtful pauses, shared awareness, and a natural rhythm of moving forward together.

Somehow, that hike mirrored the workplace: we moved better when we moved as one.

Waterfalls, Conversations, and the Human Behind the Role

At Mookana Mane Waterfalls, some stepped into the stream with excitement, while others took in the view quietly. Each response reflected a different kind of presence and both added richness to the shared experience. Later, over dinner, conversations flowed with a warmth that only time and openness can bring.

What began as a round of dumb charades gradually unfolded into genuine connection, stories surfaced, conversations deepened, and colleagues began discovering the people behind the roles. One team member summed it up well: "For the first time, I saw the person beyond the role and it changed the way I understand our work together."

What We Took Home (Besides Tan Lines and Group Selfies)

We returned with more than tired legs and photo reels. We came back with context. With stories behind names. With trust that didn’t have to be earned again and again—it had been built quietly, in conversations by the pool and shared struggles on the trail.

Back at work, things feel different. There’s more patience in meetings, willingness to help, more laughter, yes and also more understanding. Because when people are seen for who they are along with what they do, teams move from cooperation to connection.

Tek-Nothon: Tech for Better Tomorrow

At Tekvocation, events are built around the belief that learning happens best when people engage, collaborate, and solve problems together. This belief shaped the spirit of TEK-NOTHON, a one-day hackathon held on June 21, 2025. As a team, we brought together engineering students from various colleges to explore project ideas, develop prototypes, and present practical solutions—all aligned with the theme “Tech for a Better Tomorrow.” The hackathon created a space for innovation, collaboration, and purpose-driven thinking.

In the weeks leading up to the event, Manoj N S and Srivatsa visited multiple colleges to share the idea behind Teknothon and invite students to participate. Their outreach played a key role in encouraging cross-college engagement and setting the tone for a hands-on, problem-solving event.

The day began with registrations, followed by an inauguration ceremony with Chief Guest Mr. Subramanya S, a DevOps Professional at Accenture, and Ms. Diana Hombal. Together, they marked the beginning of the event with a simple plant-watering gesture that reflected Tekvocation’s approach—hands-on, grounded, and growth-focused.

Teknothon unfolded in two phases. Seventeen teams, consisting of a total of thirty-two students, were assigned their spaces and began the first phase of the hackathon by introducing their project concepts. Each team presented three project ideas, of which one was shortlisted by the jury to be taken forward for further development. The jury panel consisted of Ms. Shruthi Prabhakar from Tekvocation, and Mr. Bharath, Mr. Praveen, and Mr. Ahmed, software professionals from Edcite.

The teams then worked on their selected projects, incorporating the feedback provided by the jury. In the afternoon session, they completed their developments and delivered their final presentations. Some of the standout ideas included "Skillswap"—a platform promoting barter-based learning, "Vaidhya"—an AI-powered tool for mental health diagnosis and doctor-patient connection, "Saathi"—a digital service to help users find nearby helplines, and a solution focused on improving postpartum care. These projects reflected a thoughtful blend of social impact and technology.

A jury panel evaluated all final submissions against a defined set of technical and creative criteria, including innovation and conceptual originality, robustness of technical execution, functional completeness, user interface and user experience (UI/UX) design, system usability, and alignment with the core theme and objectives of Teknothon. The same jury reviewed all the final submissions and finalized the winners based on their performance, creativity, and execution.

The event concluded with an award ceremony in the evening, where the Guest of Honor, Mr. G. Prasanna David, Assistant Professor at Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and Technology, encouraged students to stay consistent in their efforts and to continue working with purpose and dedication toward building a better future using technology.

Awards were presented under four categories. The Best Technical Explanation award was secured by Prathap J and Mohammed Imran from MIT, Thandavapura. The Best UI/UX Design award went to Mukuta Manit and Nihar J from MIT College, Mysuru. The Runner-Up award was won by Meghana S and Jeevith Gowda, representing Vidya Vardhaka and MyCEM College. The First Prize and title of champions of TEK-NOTHON 2025 were awarded to Varshitha N S and Maheshwari N from PES College.

The event came together beautifully through the dedicated efforts of Prabhu Shankar, Srivatsa, Manoj N S, our volunteers, jury members, and the entire Tekvocation team—each of whom contributed to making the hackathon a truly meaningful and enriching experience for all participants.

Of Summers and Cricket Games – Tekvocation Bats for Team Spirit!

The MIT Mysore Edin Cricket League 2025 is a charity tennis ball cricket tournament organized for corporates and academicians by Edin and MIT, powered by Tata Motors and Naksha Builders. Over the past five years, it has provided Mysore based companies a platform to meet, play, and enjoy friendly cricket matches.

On April 19, the first match of the season was held at the MIT College grounds. This year marked a special occasion for Tekvocation, as the company’s cricket team made its debut in the tournament. Young boys of both Tekvocation and Edcite Mysore had been preparing for the match with regular practice sessions for over a month.

For many in the team, it was a refreshing change from their regular work routine. The experience of coming together for training, strategizing, and finally playing the match added a new dimension to their professional life. Sharing their experience, the players said, “It was a good experience playing in matches after a long time.” The tournament offered them an opportunity to balance work and play, build stronger team spirit, and create lasting memories beyond office walls.

Tekvocation’s participation in the ECL was a proud and encouraging step towards promoting a culture of wellness, teamwork, and healthy recreation at the workplace.

Fitness as a Way Forward: TekfitSharira at Tekvocation

At Tekvocation, events are not seen as mere activities—they are learning in real time. This belief, strongly held and lived out by Diana, has shaped a culture where every event becomes an opportunity for growth, engagement, and reflection. Over time, this outlook has become deeply woven into the fabric of Tekvocation, influencing how we learn, collaborate, and care for our teams.

Whether it was getting an entire batch of the previous batch of interns to do yoga on World Yoga Day or persistently encouraging new formats of experiential engagement, Diana has always believed that learning doesn’t just happen in sessions—it happens while doing. Her enthusiasm for incorporating wellness into work routines led to one such long-awaited idea: a fitness session. After much nudging, Prabhu finally brought this vision to life.

On April 5, 2025, Tekvocation hosted a spirited and refreshing fitness event titled TekfitSharira. The session, held on a bright Saturday morning from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, was led by Prabhu Shankar and Arun Kumar from Edcite Mysore.

The morning began with gentle warm-ups, helping participants ease into movement. Prabhu and Arun then guided the group through a well-paced routine including squats, leg raises, planks, and jumping jacks. Their clear instructions, steady encouragement, and approachable style created an energetic atmosphere, making the workout accessible to everyone regardless of fitness level.

Yet, TekfitSharira was not just about physical activity. It served as a gentle but firm reminder of the importance of integrating movement into our often sedentary work lives. The event highlighted how even simple routines can significantly improve energy levels, posture, and mental clarity—especially for interns who are just beginning to shape their work habits.

To complement the workout, a healthy breakfast featuring fresh fruits was thoughtfully arranged for all participants. This small gesture reinforced the day’s theme—nourishing the body both inside and out—and fostered a sense of community through shared experience.

Our sincere thanks to Prabhu Shankar and Arun Kumar for bringing TekfitSharira to life with such enthusiasm and care. Their efforts not only made the event a success but also helped reinforce Tekvocation’s evolving culture—one where learning, wellness, and teamwork go hand in hand.

Vinmayi: A Celebration of Women’s Strength and Empowerment

"Vinmayi", Tekvocation’s Women’s Day event, was a vibrant tribute to women’s strength, silent grit, and the often-unsung contributions that shape our homes, workplaces, and the world. This year’s celebration aimed to inspire everyone by reaffirming why Women’s Day matters.

The event opened with hosts Ashwija and Manoj welcoming the audience and spotlighting two powerful words: choice and influence—a reminder that our futures are shaped as much by the paths we take as by those we dare to create.

Ms. Diana Hombal, spoke on the importance of empowering women across all spheres and creating spaces where they can lead, speak up, and thrive.

A key highlight was the video creation competition, where participants showcased stories and ideas around women empowerment. Some entries were bold, some emotional, and a few brought a lump to the throat. Winners and runners-up were celebrated with well-deserved applause.

Then came a delicious twist—the "Cooking Without Fire" challenge. The unique feature of this challenge was that The men of Tekvocation and Edcite swapped keyboards for chopping boards to prepare dishes for the women. A thoughtful gesture—served with a side of humor and humility. Spoiler: the food was good, and the laughter even better.

The Edcite Mysore team combined the Fun Friday activities to Vinmay event and kept the momentum alive with engaging activities that strengthened the spirit of community. A lively group photo captured more than just smiles—it preserved a shared moment of joy and connection.

As the event drew to a close, the hosts reflected on what Women’s Day truly signifies: celebration, with a call to action. Empowerment is an ongoing journey—driven by inclusion, recognition, and empathy.

Vinmayi ended on a note of heartfelt gratitude. To every speaker, participant, and silent supporter—thank you for making this celebration both meaningful and memorable.

Kindness Carnival - World Random Acts of Kindness Day

Tekvocation welcomed World Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17, 2025. In an era where the focus is often on self-care and self-love, we wanted to take a step beyond ourselves and prioritize kindness toward others, even if just for a day. This idea formed the heart of the event.

The celebration began with introduction from Bhoomika and Keerthana, who set the tone by sharing Aesop’s famous quote: “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” Diana Hombal then spoke about the impact of small acts of kindness in shaping workplace culture and fostering a positive environment. She emphasized how kindness, no matter how small, has a way of coming back to us.

Several team members shared personal experiences and reflections on kindness that they have experienced. Sandhya spoke about a life-changing act of kindness she had experienced, followed by Shruthi's inspiring stories of everyday kindness. Syeda Nousheen from Edcite shared her heartfelt definition of kindness, while Abhishek from Edcite discussed how kindness strengthens workplace connections. Shashank concluded the session with insights on the importance of putting kindness into action. These stories created a deep sense of unity and gratitude among all participants.

The event featured engaging activities that brought everyone together. The Rebus Puzzle Challenge had teams working collaboratively to solve creative puzzles, while the Kindness Challenge encouraged teams to complete two thoughtful acts of kindness. The Balloon Race added laughter, making the celebration even more enjoyable.The event concluded with a group picture to commemorate the special day. Bhoomika and Keerthana wrapped up by encouraging everyone to continue spreading kindness with a powerful reminder: “Kindness is free—sprinkle that stuff everywhere.”
